jian@localhost ~ $ ls /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0
actual_brightness bl_power brightness device max_brightness power scale subsystem type uevent

I had tried to adjust the value in brightness under acpi_video) directory, however no response to me
Quote:

localhost /home/jian # cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
49

localhost /home/jian # echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

localhost /home/jian # cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
0

I had tried also configure the acpi_backlight=vendor / acpi_backlight=native / acpi_backlight=none to /etc/default/grub, and proceed grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg and then reboot, It can't help also.

Remark : My linux kernel is using genkernel command to generate it but not manual configuration.

I'm really no idea what can i do now to resolve the brightness and volume issue.
I'm looking someone here to guide me for further.
Thanks in advanced :) [/topic]

I'm having a similar issue on an AMD Ryzen 3700 laptop, though for me it's only the volume and mute keys that aren't working.

I've reported it upstream; here's the link in case you want to track the issue or add your own report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433255

EDIT: I should add that for me this issue only appeared after updating to Plasma 5.21; if you downgrade to 5.20 it shouldn't be present.

EDIT2: new plasma-desktop-5.21.0-r1 ebuild seems to have fixed this for me
