Hi,
In ftp://ftp.linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/README, it says:
"The simplest way to do this is to add the following commands to your rc.local file:"
I haven't got an rc.local file. I guess it's because it's called something else in Gentoo, but what?
It also says:
modprobe prism2_pci [or prism2_usb/prism2_plx]
wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable
wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_autojoin ssid=<your APs SSID> authtype=opensystem
ifconfig wlan0 <yourIP> netmask <yourNetmask> broadcast <yourBroadcast>
route add default gw <yourGateway>
In line 4 and 5 I'm supposed to enter my IP, netmask etc. But I'm using DHCP, so can I just delete line 4 and 5?

The Gentoo equivalent of rc.local is: Code: | /etc/conf.d/local.start |
For the wireless stuff it is better to use the wireless tools package Code: | emerge wireless-tools |
A search for wireless-tools in these forums will give you information on this. |
