hello everyone how are you doing? hope you're doing well. could anyone of you please help me with this problem: every time i copy a file that has a size bigger than 4 gb whether using a gui like nautilus or cli like cp i cannot copy it all and i get an error saying "error copying file, file too large". the copy is done to a flash drive that i plug directly to the machine _________________ i would like to thank everyone that contributed to the gentoo project in any means

Hi there. Some filesystems like FAT32 have a maximum file size of 4GB. You've probably got a FAT32 (vfat) flash drive there, in which case you'll need to reformat the drive as e.g. ext4 (for Linux) or NTFS (for Windows) if you want to put larger files on it. |

i understand, i thought i did not configure the related tools and programs correctly and i thought i was able to copy large files to fat32 in other platforms successfully. what do you think i guess i was wrong and the file system is different _________________ i would like to thank everyone that contributed to the gentoo project in any means |

Cool, I'm glad you got it working: if you like you can edit your original post to add [SOLVED] to the title so that other readers know that you're not still needing help with this. |
