Do I need to enable the "policykit" USE flag for elogind if I want to suspend to ram?
When I install elogind without the "policykit" USE flag, ebuild prints the following info:
Code: |
loginctl will not be able to perform privileged operations without "USE="policykit"! That means e.g. no suspend or hibernate.
|
But then I ran "sudo loginctl suspend" to suspend to ram, the computer went to sleep just fine, and then woke up without any problem.
So do I need to enable the "policykit" USE flag or not?

I think you answered your own question. If you do it as root, it works fine. If you wanted to do it as user (e.g. via a button in your desktop environment) then you would need policykit. |

I thought the warning from ebuild means I won't be able to suspend even with sudo.
Thanks a lot. |
