|
|
Hello all. Sorry for noob question, but I've already wasted hours on solving my problem and didn't find solution
I've already have installed alsa and now want to have pulseaudio package. I added pulseaudio USE flage to make.conf (also I've excluded apulse: ).
When I'm trying to update the system with new USE flag, or just to emerge pulseaudio package I get error - apulse is blocking pulseaudio:
Code: |
emerge --ask media-sound/pulseaudio

At the same time, seems that I have a bunch of libraries that depens on apulse:
Code: |
equery depends media-sound/apulse
* These packages depend on media-sound/apulse:
games-util/steam-client-meta-0-r20210213 (!pulseaudio ? media-sound/apulse[abi_x86_32])
media-libs/libtgvoip-2.4.4_p20201030 (!pulseaudio ? media-sound/apulse[sdk])
media-libs/tg_owt-0_pre20201105 (!pulseaudio ? media-sound/apulse[sdk])
net-im/telegram-desktop-2.4.7-r1 (!pulseaudio ? media-sound/apulse[sdk])
www-client/firefox-78.8.0 (pulseaudio ? >=media-sound/apulse-0.1.12-r4[sdk])
(pulseaudio ? >=media-sound/apulse-0.1.12-r4)
|
May be I don't understand this properly, but It seems that in case of absense of pulseaudio above packages need apulse instead.
So, I can't remove apulse package, because above packages depends on it. That packages depends on apulse because I have no pulseaudio. But I can't install pulseaudio, because I have apulse.
Does this infinite loop? Are the any solution except for deleting firefox, telegram, steam, etc... and then installing them again?
Thanks for the answer! |

Hi.
Just add
USE="...pulseaudio"
in make.conf and run
emerge -uDUav @world _________________

Is is the same as
Code: | emerge --update --changed-use --deep --quiet @world | ?
Anyway, I get the same from both:

remove the apulse and pulseaudio flags from make.conf, then rebuild what needs it because of the flag change.
AFTER that is successful, then add the pulseaudio flag back to make.conf and you should be good to go. _________________ UM780, 6.12 zen kernel, gcc 13, openrc, wayland |

Ther is no "apulse" flag existing......
No such flag......
Please try
First in /etc/portage/profile/package.provided->
media-sound/pulseaudio-13.0-r1
Also in make,conf
USE="pulseaudio"
Then
emerge -cav apulse
Then remove the pulseaudio entry form /etc/portage/profile/package.provided-
emerge -uDNav @world
emerge --depclean -a _________________

No effect on adding to /etc/portage/profile/package.provided
the same result:
Code: | sudo emerge -cav apulse
Calculating dependencies... done!
media-sound/apulse-0.1.13 pulled in by:
media-libs/libtgvoip-2.4.4_p20201030 requires media-sound/apulse[sdk]
media-libs/tg_owt-0_pre20201105 requires media-sound/apulse[sdk]
net-im/telegram-desktop-2.4.7-r1 requires media-sound/apulse[sdk]

emerge --deselect apulse
Also in make,conf
USE="pulseaudio"
emerge -uDNav @world
emerge --depclean -a
If this effort also fails i give up _________________

I guess you need to remove all packages depending on apulse and then install them again with pulseaudio set, instead of apulse
Make sure apulse isn't anywhere in make.conf or somewhere in package.use |

So, really It means an endless loop, and only deleting packages depends on apulse can resolve this... Very bad
But thanks, that've solved my problem! |

Well, that was the only thing left to do, glad it worked.
Just changing the USE flags should have worked though.
It's just more work to do manually, you would have to recompile everything that's related anyway.
I think I had something similar happening to me as well, with apulse, a year ago maybe. |
