I seem to be going BACKWARDS here from a fully working install to a non-working one. My problems are thus: After several emerges I had backlog of config files I needed to update. I scan through most of them and merged the rest. Well, that hosed my system.
I have *no* access to the net. I've gone back and added my network card driver to /etc/modules and set /etc/conf.d/net to iface_eth0 to dhcp. However, i get a "Failed to load module error: Netmount when booting. Did I miss a file to update? The same message also comes up for SAMBA even though I just did a emerge unmerge samba and nuked it.
My second question is, I was noticing some lock-ups and instability even before this incident. I was thinking of taking my system back and re-installing everything from there. In addition to the emerge world command, is it possible to nuke everything and then re-install what you want? Say a emerge unmerge world and then re-install the packages one at a time? |
