PostPosted: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:35 am    Post subject: ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503QR no keyboard or mouse Reply with quote

After recently purchasing a 2021 model of the Zephyrus G15, I started to put gentoo n it. ONly to run into a little snag.

Xorg starts but doesn't respond to any key press or mouse movement. It SEES them, if i put ctrl+alt+backspace as a kill option for the server /that/ works. But nothing else. The keyboard works otherwise.

Pastebin for the dmesg.

Here's the X-org log. I would've done a pastebin but for some reason it finds it offensive.

Hi Truekaiser.

Did you figure this out? I'm about to install Gentoo on your laptop's little brother (the G14) so may encounter this issue myself shortly. Anyway I should have some G14 Xorg.0.log output soon to compare against this.

Yes i did. you're going to need to use this version of the linux kernel as the base tree lacks required patches. https://lab.retarded.farm/zappel/zGentoo/-/tree/master/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-g14

as for the optimus set up. follow the general setup guidelines, but keep in mind it will only work if you pass the full commands.

Code:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD_PROVIDER=NVIDIA-G0 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia [opengl game here]
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only [vulkan game here]

just pray your unit is not one of the ones affected by the hardware speaker problem(driving them with too much power so they sound blown out) because the only fix for that is tweaking the eq, which is how they fixed it in windows.
