So, i installed steam by adding the emerge repo, and installing steam-meta.
when running steam, the UI was a mess of seemingly random unicode characters:

Does any of the ideas in https://www.reddit.com/r/voidlinux/comments/htzwlo/steam_font_problem/ help (installing fontconfig-32bit or removing ~/.local/share/Steam/config/config.vdf' and not checking the 'Remember Me' option)?
You may also want to install x11-misc/appmenu-gtk-module to get rid of the message:

tried removing the mentioned file, didn't help.
i can't find how to install fontconfig-32bit, searching in emerge only returns the regular version which is already installed.
x11-misc/appmenu-gtk-module is installed, so i don't know why that error is showing up |

You should see if abi_x86_32 use flag is set

that did it. i reemerged fontconfig with that flag set and it worked, thank you. |
