Okay, here goes:
I have heard great things about Gentoo and decided to give it a try on my new comp. I started out with a NIC with the Raeltek 8139 chipset, but ran into problems. I looked around and found that others had had these problems, so I tried a sis900 I had lying around. Still no good. When I boot up the livecd I find that the sis900 module has been loaded (lsmod). However, a dmesg | more says that it is not 100 % native and will try to get an IRQ later. checking the IRQ's, I of course see that there isn't one for my network card. I tried to boot with a nohotplug option and then modprobe sis900 but still no luck. I use dhcp, and have tried the net-setup eht0 repeatedly. I have read the instructions many times, and have scoured the posts, but have not actually found a solution. Any help would be very appreciated. _________________ --Sean T. Dundon (STD) |
