No shadow entry

Hi folks
I tried to modify some groups for my user under KDE and when I closed and saved it said for a couple of the group names:
No shadow entry for.....A GROUP
What does that mean???
I looked over the forum and they were talking about a folder /etc/shadow but I do not have that folder

What you need is grpconv

it is the companion to pwconv for creating shadow entries.

I had the same difficulty and found your unanswered post.
