Let's say I just turned on my computer. Everything runs fast and I love it! But if I play et about two or three times, it takes seconds to open mozilla and the slowdown is very noticable.

How can I fix this?

Edit:
I have a p4 1.5ghz, 512mb RAM and a GeForce ti4200.

Have you tried using tools like 'top' to see what is causing the slow down? It could be that some process is still running consuming CPU time and memory.
