I recently had to switch back to my old Voodoo3 card because my GF3 blew up. Anyway, a strange thing happened. When I tried to load up xine to watch a dvd in user mode, all I got was a blank Xwindow, with no control panel or anything. Thinking this was a problem with the card change, I promptly re emerged xine, but the same problem occured. The control panel does come up when I su root, however, no configuration came up on first run, and none of the links (i.e. file, d5d, dvdnav etc) produce any result. So now my thinking is that unmerging xine didn't erase some config file somewhere, and coupled with the new card, something is going on. Any ideas?

when you emrged xine over did you think to rm -rf ~/.xine first

maybe it was using an old configuration file in its home directory and that is causing the trouble....i would emerge unmerge whatever you have installed for xine then remove the .xine directory and start again
