I'm trying to record screen audio and video using media-sound/vlc, I followed some tutorials as well as the gentoo wiki. When I enter into Media/Capture devices, I can capture desktop video but without sound; in adition there are not audio or video input devices avialable in this VLC menu.
My current VLC use flags:

Some gentoo wiki recommended use flags are not actually in the repository: gnutls, rtsp, vcdx and vorbis. It need to be actualized.
Which Use flags should I use? thank you. |

You should enable v4l use flag for capture video input device.

You'll need v4l for video capture. Additionally you'll need either jack, pulseaudio, pipewire or alsa for audio.
If you want to stream to popular streaming services you'll also need lua.

I used the abovesaid flags (pulseaudio and alsa) plus v4l, when I navigate to "Media" > "Open Capture Device" get those options:
Capture Mode >
- Video Camera
- TV - Digital
- TV - Analog
- Desktop
In this menu I don't see audio devices; and "VIdeo Camera" nor "Desktop" capture audio already, I've played with video H264 MP3 + MP4 formats as explain in the tutorials.
Is it due to a missing flag? how can I record Audio? |
