|
|
Hi all,
I have recently done some rebuilding on my machine which has stuffed up gnome. When I try login as root or a normal user I get an errorm essage that the session has been loggeout in 10 seconds and that something may be wrong. I am allowed to view the xsession-errors file.
Quote: |
The ~/.xsession-errors only says something like:
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: Registering your session with wtmp
and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: running: sessreg -a -w
/var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h ""
-l :0 user |
I can login fine in gnome safe mode. I have tried deleting all gnome config files in the user dir and still now luck.
Any help is appreciated. |

Hmmm... How about trying out Gnome without using GDM? (Do ctrl+alt+F1, login as root, killall gdm, echo gnome-session > .xinitrc, and startx _________________ old outdated sig |

Hi there,
Thanks for the tip
I did the following
Code: |
killall gdm
echo /home/mark/.gnome2/session > .xinitrc
startx
|
I get the following error
Error No symbol named "" in the file pc/us
Abandoning symbol file default
I know it has something to do with the keyboard but how do I fix it? |
