Xscreensaver build problems. :-(

Ok, I'm emerging xscreensaver-4.05-r3 on my 1.3b system. Unfortunately it's only a P200MMX so doing this takes a while, which means going away for a few hours and coming back.

Trouble is every time I come back, the box has locked up. Power management has turned the screen off so I can't see what went wrong.

Anybody got any ideas what log (if any) I can look in? What might have gone wrong? and how to fix it!

Try disabling power management. Reports of lock-ups during compilation/power save mode are not rare. I'm not sure if there is a fix outside of disabling power management.

Damn why didn't I think of that?! Thanks kanuslupus.

As it happens I managed to emerge it overnight without a crash; which is typical the one time you pipe the emerge output to a file so you can see what goes wrong and it works! I haven't tried to see if the screensavers work, but if they don't that's a different problem!
