hi guys,

i am looking for a docker gui, i tried to emerge Kitematic,DockStation,Portainer,Dockly all to no avail. Common it is 2021 and certainly there will be something like a small and simple docker gui ?

You can create an ebuild for some of these, anyway for DockStation there is and appimage you can download it, add execute permission and finally run it.

https://github.com/docker/kitematic/releases/download/v0.17.13/Kitematic-0.17.13-Ubuntu.zip
Maybe install it in an ubuntu vm or privileged lxd container following

https://www.how2shout.com/how-to/how-to-install-kitematic-on-ubuntu-20-04.html
Or use Arch version likewise

No only this steps
  • download dockstation-1.5.1-x86_64.AppImage
  • add execution permission chmod +x dockstation-1.5.1-x86_64.AppImage
  • finally run appimage ./dockstation-1.5.1-x86_64.AppImage

Try Portainer

It is a web UI for managing Docker. And of course you install it as a Docker container. If you want to Docker, do it the Docker-way ;-)

Yes, it is. So?

I'd rather see Docker be a bit more sane than see someone spend time on a GUI for it. For as popular as it is, Docker has some shockingly bad warts.
