Hi,
Should I use nouveau + wayland or nvidia + kde (eglstreams)
Nouveau has worked more or less fine but I kinda missed playing games and generally using my card. (i.e. upscaling images with wafu2x)
I'm worried about the compile times of KDE too.
What should I do? _________________ Having problems compiling since 2021 |

I haven't really used it outside of testing it a bit, but kwin + latest split >=xwayland-21.1.2 should generally work fine with nvidia-drivers-470.xx, or at least for most people (some multi-monitor or multi-gpu setups supposedly have issues).
See encouraging posts like this one -- if running stable will have to accept keywords a few things, hopefully nvidia 470 and split xwayland will be stable sometime next month.
KDE isn't bad at all compile-wise, it's mostly just qtwebengine that's terrible (internally being blink/chromium). But that dependency is entirely avoidable depending on what you want to use and USE flags.
That aside, nice to hear of more people using waifu2x, that thing's great. I picked up co-maintaining it a bit before I became a dev, report if any issues |
