Neither both terminal host or ping commands do resolve elpa.gnu.org domain name->ip here, despite web browser does... Even when defined in /etc/hosts

Any idea what may happen here or how to fix it?

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

I don't see anything in the linked thread explaining what happened or how it was fixed. Could you elaborate on what was wrong, how you identified the fault, and what fixed it? My best guess would be that flipping the USE flag either included or excluded required firmware, and only one configuration works. Even there, it's not clear to me whether you are saying that USE=use-firmware caused the problem or if that solved it.

@Hu: This bug has been linked on an another topic. It seems to have some instructions to fix the problem.

I was not experiencing the problem, but wanted this thread to have a solution since it was marked as [solved]. The bug you cite may be relevant for people who need a solution, but the bug was only filed last month, and this thread is from 3 years ago. :)

I derailed starting with post 2.
Must have had 2 # tab open, writing on the wrong one.

Sorry
