Hi!

I just managed it to set up the f****** Speedtouch USB Modem, but now everything is down again. My silly sister crashed the comp and after that I got the following message in /var/log/messages:

usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 6b9/4061/0

I had this problem before, but I managed to fix it with some kernel adjustments, but when I tried the same trick again, nothing worked :(

thx 4 hlp

Lession 1) Don't buy ADSL USB modems
Lession 2) Don't let you're sister use the PC

Not sure which Lession is more important :p

As to a fix - sorry but I can't help you.
Have you considered looking at http://www.smoothwall.org as we use this with our Alcatel modem like a charm.

(In case you're wondering my IT Director didn't take my advice - he chose BT OpenWoe and the bloody modem)

damn damn damn :)

after 2 weeks of not working, i made the speedtouch sh** working again. but after a restart, i got the same error as two posts before (no such device)

this time reinstalling didn't work :( but I think, I know where the problem is. the speedtch module isn't installed so modprobe speedtch doesn't work. any suggestions?

thx

ok everything's working, as i was thinkin, the speedtch kernel module was bad. i installed the newest version from the module (1.7) and everything was working fine.

_____
problem: ADSL USB speedtouch modem didn't run.
in /var/log/messages i got the message connect(8.48): device not found

when I made lsmod the speedtch kernel module was not loaded

modprobe speedtch didn't work

depmod -ae gave me unresolved symbols in .../speedtch.o

solution: Download the newest kernel module: Find it here (I used the newest version 1.7)
and installed it with unpacking and then make and make install
