|
|
Hi. I did search so I know this has been covered before, however none of the previous solutions offered work for me.
Code: | nq-glx +set snd_output oss | results in sound lag.
Code: | nq-glx +set snd_output alsa0_9 | results in a segfault on startup. Same problem using SDL instead of ALSA 0.9.
This is the output on the console:
Code: | Sound Initialization
Error: audio open error: Permission denied
S_Startup: S_O_Init failed.
Not loading CD due to no driver
Received signal 11, exiting...
IN_Shutdown
IN_LL_Shutdown
AIEE, signal 11 in shutdown code, giving up
Segmentation fault |
It's not really the permissions because I get all the same output when I start up the program using sudo.
nq-x11 doesn't seem to crash, but how could it be video related if dozens of other GLX games work fine? It's not like Quake is cutting edge. |

It's a Diamond Monster Sound MX400, which uses the es1968 driver.
Thinking the sound driver might be the problem but since it only happens when both GLX and ALSA are in use at the same time I can't figure it out. |

look at alsa-soundcard matrix http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php3?vendor=All#matrix
As far as I can see you are using the wrong driver...
The correct one is maestro-2e. |

Whoa. They changed the table... time for a recompile. |

Nope. That updated table was bogus. Not only does that driver not exist, but their own "Details" link goes to a page describing the es1968 driver. |
