Im in the middle of installing gentoo and i can not download the gamin-sources kernel. right now i have the gentoo-sources kernel emerging in case i cant get gaming-sources. im running this out of links so you all can imagine how annoying this is lol.
But anyway when i type in
Code: | emerge -k sys-sources/gaming-sources |
my computer comes up with
Code: | Calculating Dependancies
!!!all ebuilds that could satisfy "sys-kernel/gaming-sources" have been masked.
!!!Error calculating dependancies. Please Correct. |
im hoping i just made some easy to correct noob mistake. any one know what to do? _________________ Computer Specs:

This means gaming-sources have been masked. If you really want to install it, I think the following line should do the trick:
Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -k gaming-sources |
Be warned though that this kernel, as far as I know, hasn't been patched against the recent do_brk() problem.
See here for more information and here for a list of patched kernels. |

Yes, you can always type just the package name or if you want, the dir where the package is located. Saying "emerge net-www/apache" and "emerge apache" is the same thing.
But it can be convenient in some cases, like if you want to install the rsync server, you can't type "emerge rsync". |
