Daily stable updates here.

Did cold reboot after ~48h session.

DE/DM starts wayland session flawlessly.
Lucky me startx is working still.

Hoping it will soon get fixed.

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

Based on the limited information available here, it's not possible to say whether you have hit a known bug. It's not clear which desktop environments or display managers you tried. You provided no error messages or a description of their failure.

If you need support, please post:
  • emerge --info
  • A concise description of the failure
  • Error logs from the failing program(s)

/var/log/messages above isn't any help.
Did a whole bunch of stuff to recover:
rm /tmp/* -rf
rebuild sys-devel/gcc-11.2.1_p20211127, as patch set changed.
rebuild x11-[base,libs,apps,wm]
last but not least, gnome-keyring, pam & polkit rebuild without lto 8O.

Actually I don"t use LTO much, no LTOize here.
I'm mainly interested in lowering memory footprint.
So it's applied here on a per package basis, testing size before and after...
I remain unsure if LTO is the culprit here
Likely to retest in a neat future... & update here if LTO can be restored.

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.
