How do I install gcj on gentoo? It isnt an ebuild of it's own. Is it just part of gcc3? If so, can I install that and then use it, or do I have to specify some other options? |

GCJ should be part of gcc3 ! It actually is a part of the CVS Branch of gcc @gcc.gnu.org and I think it is also contained in the relases of gcc 3.0>

It's be part of gcc, unless you disabled it. You should already have it. |

I didnt disable it... yet I don't have libgcj.
This is the error I get...
# gcj
gcj: libgcj.spec: No such file or directory
Should I re-emerge gcc or something? |

Just for kicks, I get this too when trying to run gcj.... vanilla install of gcc:
david@me david $ gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/2.95.3/specs
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)

it works perfectly in debian. though it's also a seperate package. Maybe someone should make it into a seperate ebuild if it doesn't work as part of the main gcc bundle. |
