Quake2, video and mouse problems

Yep. It just what topic says. But there's a kind of nasty thing too. When I put opengl-update xfree, quake2 works just fine, but without a acceleration, FPS is so low . Then, if I put opengl-update nvidia, FPS is just fine, but mouse doesn't work. What makes things going this way? What I've done wrong? If someone find answer to this I'll be just fine

get the icculus.org quake 2 stuff..... it works much better than the old ID client.
