hi gentoo devs,
i would like to become official gentoo dev. what should i do?
someone i am:
retired guy (would like to have paid part-time/remote slash jobs anyway >.^)
tonnes of free time - i can watch gentoo compiling as boring as can be >.^
gentoo, linux in general as personal interest - i weekly run kernel test in fedora with updated vanilla kernel and weekly update gentoo in all my virtual machine platforms at home, e.g. virtualbox, vmware, hyper-v, proxmox ve monthly
python, C - high-school-ish textbook based knowledge - personally like to be py=>c=>asm chain, GUI programming mostly javascript-ish
infra guy around 10 yrs past job life experience - mostly proxmox ve nowadays, used to be vmware at company
somewhere i am located at:
Hong Kong SAR, China (timezone HKT/UTC+
something i like to achieve:
from casual programming grow into system programming
try to read asm when time has come but only with helpful text/comment aside like binary analysis tool does
gentoo part i like to take part in:
ebuild - i mean general ebuilds for most of the packages in portage and through that to know the heart of ebuild system as system programming went through
what i get in turn:
@gentoo.org email address - i think that's prime >.^
looks like better portfolio to myself
even sometimes get paid - though unexpected
i am chinese. i can read/write chinese, english. i can try help cjk stuff at times since i try to read japanese and korean as well. anyone can teach me their language as well. welcome.
