Ciao a tutti!
To get the consile framebuffer working you'll need to recompile your kernel with the vesafb module enabled. I use kernel 2.6test8 so my radeonfb won't work. I know that the vesafb isn't the fastest though, but looks really nice:

Secondly you have to edit your /etc/lilo.conf and add the following line. You can either add it to the global section or to your prefered image section:

The important line is the vga=***. The values are as following:

Bene, Fino a qui ci sono. Ora la mia domanda è:
Per cambiare risoluzione del fram buffer, devo usare anche il BO lilo e la sua impostazione vga=* ? Oppure posso anche solo modificare le impostazioni del kernel come sopra descritto è tutto è fatto?

Se vuoi mettere il frame buffer devi mettere la linea vga=quello_che_vuoi
nel tuo lilo.
PS: fai le due scelte nel lilo con e senza frame buffer. non come io che ho
messo solo quella con il frame buffer sbagliando cosi' ho dovuto usare il
livecd per mettere a posto il tutto.

La mia domanda è: "devo usare forzamente il BO lilo e la sua vga=*, oppure posso usare anche solo le impostazioni del kernel e nessun BO lilo (NON VOGLIO INSTALLARE LILO PERCHé NON MI SERVE NESSUN BO)".
Quindi se non ho lilo, bastano le impostazioni del kernel?

Penso che serve quella impostazione nel lilo. Senza lilo ci sara' qualche modo
per passargliela ma non so come.

| Scusate, ma allora ogni macchina dovrebbe avere con se un boot loader. Io devo avviare solo un OS. A cosa mi server avere un boot loader? Utilizzo il BO del bios e mi basta, ma poi per il fram buffer ci rimango fregato. Cosa posso fare? |

Scusa la mia ignoranza ma cosa è un BO? il tuo bios fa il bootstrap del sistema operativo? su che schede madri li mettono?

si se non sono cambiate le cose. il fatto è che con win il bootloader c'è ma non si vede, visto che oltretutto non supporta altri sistemi operativi all'infuori di se stesso. quindi è assolutamente normale (e necessario) averne uno 
se poi, ad esempio, sai che partirai sempre con un kernel (o un SO) puoi benissimo impostare i tempi di attesa di input del bootloader a 0-1 secondi, in questo modo neanche te ne accorgerai di averlo
