Moving this thread from Installing Gentoo into the Other Things Gentoo forum given it would seem that the installation of the Gentoo system is complete.
Thanks!

Well I don't use any of the packages mentioned but I did notice the section you posted that says
Quote: | * It seems you don't have ocaml compiled with tk support
* or you don't have ocaml installed and tcltk USE flag is
* not defined.
*
* lablgl requires ocaml be built with tk support.

Do you have the tcltk USE flag enabled? Do you have the ocaml package emerged?
Just some quick ideas. First enable the tcltk USE flag then re-emerge (or emerge for the first time if needs be) the ocaml package.

Hi Bonez The Goon (LOL)
that did the trick. Thnx
But now: i have also emerged the nice graphicall interface KMLDONKEY. But it says that i cant conncet to the core. How is this possible. I ve tried mlnet, mlnet+mlgui (Which works fine in mldonkey self), mldonkey. What is wrong? Anyone an idea? _________________ P4-2400mhz - 512MB Samsung(2700)

If you haven't already, a good tool to emerge for the USE flags is 'ufed'.
Once emerged, open a terminal, su to root, and run ufed. A table will open up in the terminal where you can adjust your USE flags.
Once tcltk is ticked, re-emerge ocaml as it needs this flag, then re-emerge Mldonkey. All should be working now.
You need to download a core from their website (a search in google will point you int he right direction).

No, actually, the core referred to is the 'mlnet' program, which is built as part of mldonkey. If you open an xterm window and type 'mldonkey', that will kick off the 'mlnet' program in the background and then pop up a window asking if you want to run the gui. If you click on 'yes' you get a fancy gtk gui that connects to the mlnet (the 'core' program) which talks to the network on your behalf.
You can probably just start mlnet on its own. You can certainly restart the gui using 'mlgui'. If you quit from the gui, mlnet continues to run, up-/down-loading anything that's queued. There's a 'kill core' option in the gui, in case you want to turn it off without booting your system. |

well if u have your ports closed then it's a problem with your connection and i thing xmule works somehow ... at least my friend got it working but dident get mldonkey working ... you could ask your connection provider to open up certain ports for you also...
you should look at the mldonkeys documentation and figure out wich ports it uses
and for the posts before, just write
Code: | USE='tcltk' emerge ocaml |
then you dont have to edit the make.conf
good luck, mldonkey is the best when it comes to p2p |
