|
|
hi all,
I want to install SELinux on gentoo, and I thought it would be a good idea to install a SELinux enabled linux alongside. So I choose fedora. For some reason, os-prober won't find it, whilst finding other distros. I am using grub, and the boot type is "legacy".
fedora will be found, if I install grub from it, or from other linux as well.
Thanks |

Can you plz show a layout of your disks including fedora?
In case you are unsuccessful no matter what plz use
Code: |
/etc/grub.d/40_custom
|
to create custom grub entry for fedora.
My guess is fedora installer used lvm and in Gentoo you dont have it.
But maybe irrelevant.
Is fedora /boot on lvm?

you mean non-uefi?
Another idea is to build grub with USE="device-mapper" _________________

yes.
The mainboard supports uefi, but it didn't work. It's quite old, probably from a "transformation" time. I remember, I had to force-install to mbr.

That didn't do it.

not, that I know of. Never tested raid or lvm. But I don't know, if this came up during the setup.
under /boot/ there is an efi directory, and it's not empty:
EFI/
mach_kernel
System/
fdisk -l
/dev/sdd1 2048 62500863 62498816 29,8G 82 Linux Swap / Solaris
/dev/sdd2 62500864 250069679 187568816 89,4G 83 Linux
that's gentoo
/dev/sdb1 2048 63487 61440 30M 82 Linux Swap / Solaris
/dev/sdb2 63488 975868315 975804828 465,3G 83 Linux
/dev/sdb3 * 975869952 1953523711 977653760 466,2G 83 Linux
and this is the "spare drive"
on sdb3 I installed kali (debian derived) to have a non-enforcing kernel.
sdb2 is the fedora install.
other drives are just data. And I must have mistyped on the 2nd swap |

I've been following this with interest. Glad it's solved, but I don't understand what "fixed by the magic updating elf" means. What was wrong and what changes fixed it? _________________ Andy Figueroa

the magic elf - the last emerge -auND @world pulled in a new version of os-prober (1.79-r2), and this one "finds" fedora. So I guess, someone must have fixed it |
