ok. i am trying to format a partition using the FAT32 file system. When i try to do so in windows it says windows was unable to complete the partition. How do i do this in linux. I have done this so far. Boot the live cd, go into cfdisk, delete the partition, recreate it, and select Win95 FAT32 as the partition type. However, when i come back into windows it tells me i need to format the partition before using it. So, how can i format the partition in the windows so it uses the FAT32 filesystem. thanks.

make sure you have sys-fs/dosfstools emerged
Code:
mkfs.vfat <device>

Code:
emerge dosfstools

then use mkfs.vfat to format the partition (see its man-page for more info)
