|
|
Hello, I was going through the kernel live patching section in the gentoo wiki, and I came across ksplice which is developed by oracle and has a subscription only model for usage of the software.
Is there an open source implementation of ksplice that's available?
Edit:- I researched around a bit and came across kpatch and kgraft and kernelcare. I didn't quite understand the intricacies in differences between each of the implementations.
Users who have had experience with live patching with kpatch, how reliable is it for maintaining server uptime without losing out on critical updates/patches? I read that kpatch doesn't make changes to the userspace, is that the only catch when patching with kpatch?
Also anyone who has experience with live kernel patching, can you please share your experience? I am looking forward to learning how to do it, especially in gentoo.
I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this sort of question, but I didn't know better. |
