Hi,
I wanted to emerge the 2.6 Kernel. I found it at /usr/portage/sys-kernel/development-sources. So I emerged it. But do I get just the *tar.bz files after compiling and I have to make the same process as at the installation?

Another question; I thought that I had installed Kernel 2.4.22 because that`s the standard. But when I made an
emerge -s gentoo-sources

i got the message that I have installed 2.4.20-r9 and the "new" one is 2.4.22-r1? Is it true that 2.4.20 is the standard?

with kind regards, g.

Yeah you'll have to repeat the steps in the install guide, just remember that 2.6 kernels don't require make dep, make bzImage modules modules_install will suffice.
