Trying Gentoo for first time, from a LiveCD installation using the stage2 tarball (iso's downloaded Friday).
All went fine up to emerge system, then 8 hours later, get roughly the following error:
Auto-cleaning packages
Invalid db-entry /var/db/pkg/*sys-fs/devfsd
Couldn't find match for:
app-shells/sash
sys-apps/less
sys-apps/help2man
sys-apps/fbset
sys-libs/slang
It looks like just a clean up problem, so I've ignored it, though no idea if it's going to cause problems later.
However, don't know if it's related, but I then did a:
emerge --usepkg gaming-sources
and I got an error about packages being masked. I've now currently building the vanilla-sources, but should the gaming-sources have worked? Can I install the gaming-sources at a later date and rebuild the kernel? |

Hi,
I have the same error for log time (a month, I think) without any problem ... if I forgot the error line
Code: |
# emerge clean -pv
!!! Invalid db entry: /var/db/pkg/*sys-fs/devfsd!!! Invalid db entry: /var/db/pkg/*sys-fs/devfsd
>>> These are the packages that I would unmerge:
>>> No outdated packages were found on your system.
|
Appreciate idea, help ....

Thanks a lot. It seems to work well for me. Sorry for the second thread, I search some days ago and found nothing ... quite strange ...
