I'm rather fond of Americas Army.

Apart from that, what are considered the most addictive games in the gentoo emerge system? - Particulary non FPS games...

Opinions/recommendations?

Nick

I play Vendetta enough for it to be classified as an addiction. As a matter of fact, there's a thread on our message board entitled "You might be addicted to Vendetta if... " with 200 replies.

I think most of all CS, because it has quick rounds, and you can either win and get lots of kills, or lose. It's like a fix every 3 minutes or so. However, I think in the long term the nice thing about CS is that you DO get better the more you play, at least most people do. Once you learn the maps and the "confrontation" points, as well as objectives and weapons. That's what keeps me coming back to CS, the fact that I progressively improve. I don't play CS anymore, except like every other weekend, because I honestly DO NOT have windows in my possession. I don't even have x86 machines.

That said, I've been playing nethack recently, and that's pretty fun.

As far as addictions go, it's up to the person honestly. Some people like me just grew up on videogames. It's not more addicting that people who watch football or anything, nor is gaming any more or less ridiculous than throwing balls through hoops, or chasing men down fields. If you play 24/7 everquest, or watch football 24/7, it's reflective of the individual, not the medium. This difers from drugs which cause certain physiological results.

Basically I know you just asked what game - SO SKIP THE ABOVE FOR THE ANSWER - Counter-Strike and Nethack.

OFF TOPIC: Anyone know any good SNES RPG's? I was playing a translation of Dragon Quest 6, and I'm totally stuck on this one part, with nothing online or IRC helping me (I looked too! I spent much time leveling up characters, not to just simply not play anymore). So I need a new RPG. Played the classics like earthbound, chrono trigger, and such. Never play BOF or FF3. FF3 I could never get past the intro was boring. Anyway if someone doesn't read this and make a suggestion than I'll just re-play Dragon Warrior 4 for NES because it Pwnz and finally figure out what to do at cascade caves to get metal babbale last piece, after I erased the file. Oh well. PM ME as to not spam this posters thread... any more. I'm just notorius for spamming and long posts lately.

Xpilot, more addictive then coffeine

Has taken two years of my life and given me mousearm  This game used to have it's own organization for addicted players. (I am not kidding). Anonymous X-Pilot Players (AXP), it's been closed now though.

do "emerge xpilot"

I don't think this is spamming the thread... I forgot about snes roms... they are definately one of the most addicting linux games. Try super mario rpg, that was always one of my favorites.

It's not in gentoo, but Medieval: Total War is the most addictive game I have ever played. It's a typical empire building turn-based strategy game, with the coolest combat system ever.

Find the Seiken Densetsu 3 ROM, a copy of ips.pl, and the SD3 translation patch by Neil Corlett; it's as much fun as Secret of Mana.
