to anybody who is looking for Silicon Image 3114 support:
I am running a Tyan K8W mobo which uses the said SATA controller.
Yesterday I found some references to the following patch,
it implements some basic funtionality.

how stable is it? how limited is "basic"? any raid support by chance? |

hi the_highhat,
cant talk about stability, I simply
applied the patch (there were 2 hunks with
the gentoo-dev-kernel)
and rebuilt the kernel.
I understood that RAID is not in place yet, but
basic I/O would be working.

Yep... these drivers are binary only, requiring a 2.4.19 kernel... I'm not sure, but i think there are some united linux patches that the kernel module depends on...
but building 2.4.x for gentoo/x86_64 is kinda problematic... at least for me it is... getting 3114 raid0 + NUMA + x86_64 + nvidia drivers is a real pain right now... |
