desktop nor responsive sometimes while usb transferring

Hi.
I am transferring images from my sony camera to the gentoo laptop over usb cable.

Very often the desktop (chrome, keyboard, etc...) are not responding for about 10 seconds, and this happens several times during the transfer.

Is there a way to fix this? Like a different kernel or something.
I am using the gentoo binary kernel 5.15.41-gentoo-dist

what if you also plug the power cord to your camera, is then any difference while copying?

when this happens, dmesg would definitely throw some errors, if any.

we need some infos to help you better.

there're so many eventualities - could be power - filesystem - bios config - bad usb cable or kernel etc.

and trying out different kernels won't harm your system at all.
