Using openrc
I chrooted from a Debian install to /dev/sdf
/dev/sdf1 ext3 /boot
/dev/sd2 swap
/dev/sdf3 /
I get the following error:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Generating grub configuration file ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.10.0-16-amd64
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.10.0-16-amd64
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.10.0-15-amd64
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.10.0-15-amd64
Warning: os-prober will not be executed to detect other bootable partitions.
Systems on them will not be added to the GRUB boot configuration.
Check GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER documentation entry.

So what is the error? Looks normal to me.
If you only have Gentoo on this system, then you are set. |

I got my system to boot. By mistake I wrote over my existing Debian 11 install.
I set GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER to FALSE

What I learned was when I use the systemsescue (system-rescue.org) and doing a tar ball install and only have one hard drive connected.
Lesson learned.
I decided to start over from scratch on a different machine. _________________ Without diversity there can be no evolution:) |
