|
|
Hello, I am using Gentoo for the first time, in fact I'm rather new to the whole Linux stuff.
I installed KDE Plasma as desktop environment following the instructions from a friend and the handbook (to set up X Server, Nvidia drivers, etc)
The desktop works and it's cool, but after I apply the display settings to fix the position of my monitors and rotation, after I reboot they're all scrambled up again.
Also I see HUGE DPI on my 1080p monitors, while the 4K one looks fine...
I'd also like to know how I can permanently change the primary monitor so it's another one starting from sddm, since when I tried other DEs, it always automatically sets my vertical monitor as primary, but it's not oriented correctly and it's rather annoying... |

hmm, just tried current available Gentoo Live Gui and everything worked OOTB including Multi-Display.
what do you have in $HOME/.local/share/kscreen ? <<< the cryptic numbers are just text files, please provide the content.

This is a fairly common problem I've seen in several cases and has several solutions, first we'll need to get a better understanding of the specific environment:
- Is this a desktop or laptop?
- Are you using hybrid graphics (a combination like Intel Nvidia; which is common in laptops)?
- Are you using a dock (via usb type-c or thunderbolt)?
- What drivers are you using (nouveau or nvidia in the case of nvidia)?
- Can you share the output of the dmesg command (run it as root and post in a pastebin)?
- Can you share the output of the xrandr command?
- Can you share the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log? |
