I recently noticed that /var/lib/samba/private/msg.sock on my systems contains ~1600 sockets, dating back to the initial installation of the system.
That can't be right. Is this a configuration issue?
All I could find on the topic is this bug, which claims this was a known issue that has been fixed in Samba 4.10.13+. However, I am running Samba 4.15.7, so that doesn't make any sense.
Is there someone who could shed some light on this? |

You are right.
You can safely delete them.
At least I did after renaming their directory and not noticing any problem.
I noticed in my case it creates 6 sockets @startup. _________________

Well, that I already know.
What I'd like to know is why Samba won't clean up properly and keeps piling up those sockets. That seems odd. |
