|
|
Why is it that I can only get one sound imput at a time with ALSA? For example if I'm using beep-media-player (OSS Output Plugin) and gaim (aplay command to play sounds) then only one can play at a time... and oddly enough all the gaim sounds que up and play after I stop playing music with beep.
edit:
I use:
gnome 2.4
linux-2.6-test11-love1
CMedia Internal soundcard (Gnome ALSA Mixer lists it as CMedia PCI) _________________ the linux gaming guy! |

I don't know anything about that chip, but I would check and see if it has hardware mixing, if not you will need to set up dmix (an alsa feature) to do software mixing. _________________ Hope this helps........ |

Just fyi, duplex is when you can read from the soundcard and write to it at the same time, ie- you can be recording from a microphone and playing music at the same time*.
What you're talking about is mixing.
* - silly example. In real life the applications for this are far more useful/exciting. Think realtime audio processing. |
