Hey all, I havent updated my box in a while and I decided to update a couple days ago, anyways a did the usual emerge sync emerge -u world.
After that X wouldnt run, Here's the console output:
Code: |
fefe@fefe fefe $ startx
Using authority file /home/fefe/.Xauthority
Writing authority file /home/fefe/.Xauthority
execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 8)
giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

Anyone have any idea's? I did a few google searches and people said to check /etc/X11/X and thats linked to "../../usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86" which is assume is ok? So I decided just for kicks and maybe investigation (?) checked out XFree86 with a text editor and it came back as 0bytes big, which leaves me to beleive that the file is screwed up, or maybe its suppose to be empty, anyways, anyone have any idea's?
Thanks,
Eric
P.S. I did a re-emerge of X and it changed nothing, still haveing the same problem. |
