Hi all,
Whenever I boot up or install, update, or remove a package with emerge I get the following messages repeated several times throughout:
insmod: a module named loop already exists
insmod: a module named ide-scsi already exists
The weird thing is that everything works just fine on my system (I can burn CDs and imagine I could also burn DVDs.)
Anybody know how I can eliminate these annoying messages?
I'm running the 2.4.22 vanilla kernel on a dell dimension 8300.
Best,
Alex |

Hi all,
Well, I managed to figure out what was going on.
For some odd reason the commands to install the modules were in the rc.conf file as /sbin/loop and /sbin/ide-scsi. I am pretty sure that I did not put them there, but I might be wrong.
Anyway, I deleted those two lines and added loop and ide-scsi to the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x file and everything works perfectly!
Best,
