whats gcc flags are best for a dual p3 system?
Im looking to reinstall my entire system, but I cant until I figure out what flags to use.
I want stablity and speed!

Well, from my understanding, the flags really wouldn't matter as much as the optimization of the application. (as in, if it's threaded then it'll rock on multi-processor machines)
As far as make is concerned (and emerge), change the -j option in your /etc/make.conf to something like -j4 or -j6. (2 or 3 processes per processor during the make cycle)
Anything I'm missing? |
