hey, in the notebook im getting it has a realtek alc202 sound card in it and i was wondering if alsa supports it - i checked the site in gentoo's doc if alsa supported it but not one realtek card is supported... so even if alsa doesnt support it, then does oss atleast support it?? thnx!! :P

I have the same question. But everything that OSS supports, ALSA supports.

Hi,

I suppose you have a VIA based notebook with a bridge 8235 or simplar... They love this bogus stuff put on board. Basically the simple sound is quite acceptable. So if the chipset of your notebook is VIA you have to use ALSA via82xx driver. At least it works for me fine.
