Et voilà! The system boots!
I have never installed kernel modules for my graphic card at gentoo installation.
I have always used radeon modules at first, when I have no graphical interface.
Regarding the weird options enabled...I have no idea!
Gentoo is a pretty complicated system to configure but easy to understand. The community behind the forum make a great effort helping other enthusiasts.

Gentoo is the best (meta) distribution to learn Linux really in deep
