What an odessy. I could not get the gnome "network servers" application to browse the network while I was in gentoo. However I could browse the gentoo machine from other win2k computers on the network. So I emerged LinNeighborhood and thanks to some good advice in #gentoo I got it installed. Suddenly I could see all the computers on the network and once I browsed the network with username/passwd I could see all the shares the gentoo machine was entitled to. I thought my oddessy was over, finally. But wait, when I go to click on the shares LinNeighborhood wants to mount the damn shares. Hell I dont won't to mount them I just want to be able to browse then like I can on my fedora core 1 machine. Since there is no help, how in the world do I browse the shares, all I seem to be able to do is mount them which is of no help to me
Thanks |

EDIT: the reason I am not excited about mounting is 2 of the win2k machines are NTFS which is going to cause problems with mounting (if I remember correctly). I just want to be able to browse and move files around. |
