xmms crashes

hello,
i tried now xmms 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 and it crashes total everytime when i try to play a song

This happens for me too when I use the alsa driver for xmms.
It worked for me when switching to oss in the preferences.
The logs tell me its because of a segmentation fault fault.
But I want my ALSA

i use kernel 2.6. are there any oss-drivers?

2.6 has both Alsa and OSS. I am using Alsa sb-live and 2.6-test10-mm1 fine with xmms. You could try to 'strace xmms' and see if you can find errors. You might just have a library out-of-date or failing. 'revdep-rebuild' will fix any errors or just re-emerge the library that is failing.

i recompiled two packages with revdep-rebuild and recompiled xmms but it still crashes when i want to splay a song

if i won't get xmms work, which other mp3-player could you recommend?
