According to internet searches, this used to be a thing a long time ago.
But for me hplip is crashing and taking 100% of a CPU causing the CPU to run hot.
The kitties like it, but me not so much.
I killed the process, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and has an idea how to prevent it from happening. _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |

Are you using the portage version or an out of portage version?
Which software release?
All I can say is that I have some remote managed machines with net-print/hplip-3.22.6 installed and don't see this behavior... _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Portage version.
It started hogging a CPU after I printed a pdf to it. _________________ Some day there will only be free software. |

If you can reproduce this on demand, you could rebuild with debug symbols, trigger it, then capture a core dump to see where it is looping. This behavior can indicate that the application is expecting some condition to become false as a result of the application's logic, but the condition remains true, causing the application to remain awake and continue trying to change the state. |
