Hallo zusammen,

ich habe in den letzten Tagen einige Versuche gemacht:
in gentoo-stable habe ich einmal gentoo-sources installiert (keine Neuinstallation).
gentoo-kernel-bin habe ich dabei enffernt.
Der Versuch, mit dem Befehl
genkernel --install all
hat etwas Zeit gebraucht, am Ende aber war alles installiert.

In einem bestehenden unstable habe ich denselben Versuch gstartet:
gentoo-sources 6.4.1
genkernel --install all.
Doch am Ende kam eine mit rotem Rand versehene Meldung, daß initramfs nicht installiert werden konnte.

Dieser Versuch war erfolglos, den genauen Grund habe ich nicht richtig verstanden - alles in English.

Meine Frage: ist mit diesen gentoo-sources genkernel --install all nicht möglich?
Oder gibt es einen bestimmten Grund, warum das mit diesen sources noch nicht funktioniert?

Hallo zusammen,

habe ich wieder nicht genau hingeschaut?
In einem WIKI habe ich gelesen, daß dracut für initramfs genutzt werden kann, wenn genkernel nicht dazu kommt.

dracut --kver=6.4.1-gentoo-x86_64
Ist das erfolgreich?

Wenn ja, bitte ich um Entschuldigung, daß ich wieder erst gefragt und nicht erst gesucht habe.

Du könntest die Fehlermeldung aber kopieren und Deiner Anfrage beifügen, damit wir überhaupt die Möglichkeit haben, etwas dazu zu sagen.

Leider habe ich es verpaßt, die Fehlermeldung zu kopieren.

Ich habe es unter unstable auf einer USB-SSD noch einmal probiert.

Lese ich es richtig?

Muß ich - bevor ich mit gentoo-sources beginne - in make-conf die Zeile mit binpkg per # deaktivieren?

Oder gibt es noch einen stärkeren Grund?

Mit folgenden Kernel-sources hat es per genkernel einwandfrei geklappt:

6.1.31 stable
6.3.11 stable und unstable

Nur mit 6.4.1 und 6.4.1-r1 nicht.

Eben habe ich in stable die neuesten gentoo-sources erhalten: 6.4.1-r1.

Was ich fast nicht glauben wollte: genkernel hat den gesamten Prozess geschafft inklusive initramfs.

Was unter unstable gescheitert ist. Natürlich: unstable....

Mehr Details zum Fehler wären in der Datei /var/log/genkernel.log zu finden. Falls du den Fehler also wieder mal hast, dann liefere bitte auch die gesamte Datei.

Leider kann ich die log nicht liefern, weil sie einfach viel zu groß ist.

Ich bin, als ich sie hier eingetragen hatte, abgesperrt worden, weil die Größe hier nicht akzeptiert wird.

Kann ich sie anders liefern?

Üblicherweise lädt man grössere Textmengen auf einen Pastebin Service hoch und teilt dann den generierten Link hier mit.

Das Tool Wgetpaste scheint sich bei Gentoo grösserer Beliebtheit zu erfreuen. Daneben gibt es auch andere Alternativen wie zum Beispiel pastebinit.

Entschuldige, wenn ich noch einmal frage.
Grund: ich habe das schon ewig lange nicht mehr gemacht. Daher weiß ich den genauen Weg nicht mehr.
Der ist vollkommen aus meinem Gedächtnis gewichen - leider.

Wärst du so freundlich und würdest mir den genauen Vorgang beschreiben, vielleicht taucht er dann in meinem Gedächtnis wieder auf.
Die englische Anleitung verstehe ich nicht exakt, auch leider.

Zuerst einmal musst du das Programm installieren. Im Falle von wgetpaste also:

emerge --ask app-text/wgetpaste


Jetzt könntest du wgetpaste nach deinen Bedürfnissen konfigurieren oder die optionalen Pakete app-text/ansifilter und/oder x11-misc/xclip installieren. Der Einfachheit halber lasse ich das mal weg.

Jetzt solltest du aber in der Lage sein, einen Pfad zur Datei anzugeben, die dann auf einen Pastebin Service im Internet hochgeladen wird. Im Terminal also sowas wie

wgetpaste /var/log/genkernel.log


In der Ausgabe wird dir dann eine URL angezeigt, wo der hochgeladene Inhalt gelandet ist. Diese URL postest du dann hier im Forum.

Hallo ManfredB,

ja, "Verbose" hilft oft ... gut gemacht.

Ich habe dann über Google den Google "Translator" (Übersetzer) gesucht und gestartet. Wenn Ich da den Text "ERROR 413: Request Entity Too Large" per copy/paste eingebe, erhalte ich ein:

"FEHLER 413: Anforderungsentität zu groß"

Das bedeutet für mich, DIESER Service akzeptiert Deine Datei nicht, weil sie zu groß ist. Hatte ich auch schon mal ... einfach einen anderen Service versuchen ... ;-)

Das habe ich schon geahnt, daß diese Datei viel zu groß ist.

Doch wie soll ein anderer Server da eingebunden werden?

Ich habe mir vorgenommen, die Datei einmal in Ruhe durchzuschauen, vor allem die Stelle zu finden,
die den Fehler beschreibt, vielleicht ist die Datei dann nur noch halb so groß - nur Vermutung - dann könnte ich sie vielleicht doch noch liefern.

Aber warten wir es ab, denn da sie so riesig ist, werde ich auch sehr lange brauchen, um sie zu studieren.

Hallo zusammen!

Ich kann schon mal erste Eindrücke melden:
kernel war problemlos zusammengestellt.
modules ebenso.
Umfang von modules deutlich größer als bei kernel.
Ich habe sehr lange daran gesessen.
Dann kam initramfs - und gleich ist mir aufgefallen, daß ein Paket nicht als binpkg erstellt werden konnte.

Sofort habe ich in /etc/portage/make.conf die Zeile mit Bildung der binpkgs per # deaktiviert,
(FEATURES="binpkg-multi-instance buildpkg")
vor allem, weil gerade 6.4.2 an der Bildung ist.

Nun bin ich gespannt, ob es diesmal besser verläuft.
Darüber werde ich nach Abschluß berichten.

Was ich nun fast nicht glauben wollte:

gentoo-sources 6.4.2 haben erfolgreich durch genkernel alles vollendet, inklusive initramfs.

Das hat mich nun sehr gefreut.

Hallo ManfredB,

Aus meiner Sicht muss ich dir ehrlich sagen, dass es unglaublich mühsam ist, dir helfen zu wollen. Einerseits suchst du hier Hilfe und lieferst, mal mehr mal weniger hilfreiche Infos und andererseits bastelst du dann einfach so bei deinem System weiter. Ein Beispiel:

Nun möchte ich dir und vor allem auch den anderen zeigen, was höchstwahrscheinlich die Fehlerursache war.

In der Logdatei findet man

Es ist so, dass genkernel zunächst die libxcrypt in Version 4.4.26 selbst baut (und nicht auf die Version im System zurückgreift). Beim Bauen von libxcrypt wird unter anderem auch Perl verwendet. Mit Perl 5.38 gab es ein paar Änderungen. Eine diese Änderungen sorgt dafür, dass das Bauen von libxcrypt mit einem Fehler abbricht.

Für diesen Bug gibt es https://bugs.gentoo.org/909650 und der Bug ist mittlerweile in sys-kernel/genkernel-4.3.5 geflickt.

Kurz zusammengefasst: Dein System ist alles andere als stable. Du verwendest ziemlich sicher Perl 5.38 (Perl 5.36 wäre das, was du verwenden solltest). Dadurch, dass du kein stable System hast, hast du auch schon die geflickte Version von genkernel installiert.

Hallo sMueggli!

Sorry, daß ich wieder diesen merkwürdigen Weg gegangen bin.
Als ich heute noch einmal die neuesten gentoo-source 6.4.2 bekommen habe,
musste ich den vorherigen Kernel updaten.

Da ist mir sofort aufgefallen, daß neben gentoo-sources auch genkernel neu hinzugekommen ist.

Also ist dadurch der eigentliche Grund des erfolgreichen Installierens zu sehen.

Dafür möchte ich mich bei Dir ganz herzlich bedanken, daß du die von mir gelieferten Informationen aus dem System genau untersucht hast.
