|
|
Hi, my new modem Huawei / Brovi E3372-325 doesn't correctly switch or something
else is wrong. I read couple of good forums about udev-rules and
usb_modeswitch confings and I managed to get the device from CDROM state to
modem-state. Im not sure is this the correct mode. Atleast it doesn't
connect.
lsusb
Code: | Bus 003 Device 007: ID 12d1:155e Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Mobile |
When connected to usb, the leds flashes red and green. Signaling it has no
connection and apparently has, since green light should be always on if
properly connected. It gives three interfaces.

None of these work. First one gives carrier but doesn't like ppp and just tries to connect several times and dies. Second interface hangs with sending ATZ, third just doesn't register at all.
Code: | # wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT*99#
--> Waiting for carrier.
CONNECT
--> Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately.
--> Starting pppd at Thu May 25 13:58:59 2023
--> Pid of pppd: 6022
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0 |
I tried with dhcpcd, but it doesn't recognise any working interfaces
Code: |
# dhcpcd wwan0
dhcpcd-9.4.1 starting
DUID 00:04:03:c0:02:18:04:4d:05:65:57:06:9c:07:00:08:00:09
wwan0: waiting for carrier
wwan0: carrier acquired
wwan0: IAID 00:00:00:02
wwan0: waiting for 3rd party to configure IP address
timed out
dhcpcd exited |
I upgraded it's firmware with other pc, but I read somewhere even never was available. I don't know if this is the issue here.
I read this is HiLink or something and needs dhcp to connect, but I can't do that either.
Does anyone else have this modem or a working configuration for it?
Code: |
ifconfig -a

Pulie,
The first interface is usually for the datalink.
One of the others is for link monitoring.
Code: |
# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT*99#
--> Waiting for carrier.
CONNECT
--> Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately. |
You normally need a username and password before ppp will work.
For some services, its a fake and the same for everyone but it normally there. _________________ Regards,

Thanks for repply NeddySeagoon,
I used wvdial for years with Huawei 3G E367, and it worked well. Our service provider just dropped 3G so I had to purchase this new 4G stick. The old one works now just in 2G-mode, so i need to figure out how this new one works. I never had to put any passes and works fine with default wvdial.conf.
The new stick works well with my other pc, without putting any passes. I see the default was no username and six characters, but don't know else. |

Allright, I got it working with one line added to wvdial.conf
Code: |
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP"
Password = 0000
New PPPD = Yes
Phone = *99#
Idle Seconds = 0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Stupid Mode = 1
Compuserve = 0
Baud = 9600
Auto DNS = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
ISDN = 0
Username = 0000
|
Code: | Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP" |
So, here is my new wvdial.conf and here is the line.
Thanks! |

This modem is still causing trouble. I got a new sim-card and the problem came back. So wvdial just keeps trying to connect with no success.
Code: |
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0
--> Using interface ppp0 |
I can't even boot with it working, i first needed to unplug and plug it to another usb-slot. Now even that doesn't work. Tried to change the user/pass, but it doesn't make much difference. |
