I've got kmplayer working so that it can play videos from a file (e.g. MOVs and AVIs) fine, with full video and sound working.
If I try to play a DVD, the video works fine, but I get no sound. I've tried various sound options in kmplayer (e.g., oss and alsa options) and they work fine if I'm playing a file, but I just get silence from the DVDs (I've tried a couple).
I'm running kmplayer from the command line, and I'm not seeing any errors being given about missing codecs or not finding devices.
Does anyone have any ideas? |

Just noticed that if I start the dvd via DVD->DVD Navigator->start I get no sound, if I start it with DVD->Open DVD then I get sound (but this skips all the menus). |

I believe the mplayer devs are posting that the DVD menu support in the base mplayer is broken, almost to the point of beyond repair, so I'm not sure you'll be able to use the menus with kmplayer. You might have better luck with Xine and whatever k- frontend you can find for it (not downing mplayer, though... it's a great player). |
